How Can I Escape is a powerful account of a woman who lived apart from God. She lived a life that would be the envy of many: A promising and upcoming piano prodigy and winner of Ms. Illinois through the Shriners (and being prepped for the Miss America Pageant). She was intelligent, beautiful, and determined. Yet there was an emptiness and depression inside of her that she did not know how to handle. It was that emptiness and depression that almost destroyed her. Her battles and struggles ranged from abortion to rape, cancer, and a heart attack. She was homeless, mentally abused in a broken marriage, and ostracized by the church. Yet through it all, she built a loving relationship with God amidst the turmoil around her. I wrote How Can I Escape to give hope to souls who believe their lives are chaotic.

Broken but Not Destroyed is the third installment in the struggles in dealing with adversity in our daily lives naturally and spiritually. How Can I Escape represents the author's testimony of hardship from an abusive marriage, homelessness, and illness and how she wanted to escape it. However instead of running away from her trails and tribulations, she ran to God, who taught her to endure, persevere, and triumph by being steadfast and faithful in her relationship with him. The second book entitled Enemy in the Mirror: A journey Worth Fighting For describes how looking in a mirror, we marred the image of the Creator as sinful wretched beings by reflecting a demonic image of debauchery, pride, selfishness, greed, promiscuity, lust, envy, and hatred towards one another. The Enemy in the Mirror explains we can change that image by pursuing the attributes that reflect God's image. Broken but Not Destroyed describes how we feel defeated, distraught, and discouraged by experiencing and enduring constant setbacks, disappointments, and catastrophic events in our daily life. Broken but Not Destroyed is a roadmap on how we can pick ourselves up naturally and spiritually by discovering our Godly potential. We are so concentrated on ourselves that we forget that God is there for us if only him and let him shoulder the burden. The book challenges us all to look at ourselves in the mirrored which gives a reflection of ourselves in our spiritual battle with ones self. The reflection in the mirror displays an ugliness of humanity that is not Christ-centric, or God-orientated, but instead reflects our flesh, desires, character flaws, shortcomings, and evil because we refuse to surrender self to our Creator. The only way to change the enemy in the mirror is to let God and not ourselves direct our lives by having a humbling mindset that surrenders to him in all aspects of our lives.

How Can I Escape

How many times in our natural life here on earth when we experience turmoil, calamity, mayhem, do we want to escape? We find ourselves wanting to run and hide or continuously wish that somehow our problems or ordeals would magically disappear or go away. Fearing to face them head-on because we believe that they would consume us in mind, body, and spirit. Oh Lord we ask over and over again how can I escape life's torment? These are the times that both our natural and spirit man are vulnerable to attacks by the enemy. Constantly over and over we fail to grasp that humbly submitting ourselves to God's will and acknowledging our sins, is our relief from suffering. It is through Christ Jesus through his suffering and humiliation here on earth that he paved a way for redemption and eternal salvation. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. (Hebrews 2:9)
